It is used in agriculture as a high-nitrogen fertilizer. It is one of the main components of ammonium nitrate/fuel oil (ANFO). ANFO is used in coal mining, quarrying, metal mining, hair dyes, colorings, freeaing mixtures, and civil construction. It is also used as an oxidizer in solid rocket propellants.
