General Description
• Arsenazo III is highly specific for calcium and produces absorbance peaks in the 600-660 nm range
• It reacts in slightly acidic conditions, and is soluble in alcohol and semi-soluble in water
Application
• Arsenazo III can detect calcium in permeabilized cells; it is also capable of detecting uranium and thorium
• Arsenazo III has been used in vitro to measure intracellular Ca2+ levels in live neurons alongside patch clamp methods
