It reacts with fatty acid resulting in the formation of amidoamines, which are used as corrosion inhibitors in the petroleum industry. It is associated with unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine to prepare hydyne, which is a propellant for liquid-fuel rockets.

Solubility
Miscible with water and ethanol. Immiscible with ether.

Air Sensitive. Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids and copper.
